'High Noon at La Posada' | Original Painting | Still Standing Collection

$525.00
Sold Out

The striking pinks, vibrant oranges, and sun-lit yellows of this original painting capture the intense brilliance of a high summer day in Patagonia. Zoomed in close so the small structure fills the frame, High Noon at La Posada focuses on the strength of a modest, resilient building beneath the long hours of the afternoon sun. Back in the studio, I drew directly from my memories of exploring the many secondary outbuildings that dot the legacy grounds of La Posada de Los Farios. The brilliant contrast between the building's warm pink tones and the glowing yellow grasses at its base brings an immediate, joyful energy to the canvas. Bold brushstrokes transform a small outbuilding into a vibrant, mighty centerpiece. May this piece bring bright energy, lingering summer warmth, and a splash of joyful color into your space.

Still Standing Collection

Deep in the backcountry, tucked into aspen groves or perched precariously over mountain rivers, you will find them: the weathered cabins, forgotten mills, and quiet ghost towns that time left behind. This collection is a celebration of these resilient structures that refuse to yield to the elements. By pairing the rough, historic textures of these relics with a vivid, unexpected palette of electric blues, dreamlike purples, and warm alpenglow pinks, I wanted to breathe new life into these historic spaces. These paintings are a tribute to the spirit of the backcountry, the stories built into old timber, and the quiet magic of places that are still standing.

Behind the Studio Doors: The Story & Process

Beyond the frame lies a true backcountry memory. Before this canvas was painted, it was lived. High Noon at La Posada was born from exploring the legacy grounds of a remote cattle ranch clinging to the Cisnes River in Chile. As gauchos moved cattle across the property in the late afternoon light, these humble, secondary ranch buildings stood watch along the water, carrying decades of history and creative maintenance in their old timbers.

Back in the studio, I wanted to capture the mighty presence of this small structure under the long, bright days of summer. Zooming in close to focus on its strength, I chose a powerful palette of bright pinks and intense oranges to contrast against the glowing yellow grasses at its feet. It is not just a painting of an outbuilding. It is a celebration of resilient structures, vibrant color contrasts, and the slow, beautiful rhythm of life in Patagonia.

Every original painting carries a unique story of adventure, historical inspiration, and studio process. For more insight, check out the blog From Patagonia to the Palette: How a Chilean Girls’ Trip Inspired My Newest Series.

How This Piece Will Feel in Your Space *

Imagine adding a striking, sun-drenched accent of Patagonian warmth to your home.

High Noon at La Posada brings a bold, celebratory energy into your room with its intimate 10x10 scale, fiery pink and orange hues, and luminous sun-lit yellows. It acts as a punchy, inviting focal point, a modern piece of original art that radiates confidence, catches the eye, and instantly enlivens a gallery wall, mantel display, or cozy reading nook.

Living with High Noon at La Posada is an invigorating daily reminder of the strength and resilience found under the summer sky.

As your eyes trace the sharp geometric lines of the small outbuilding and the brilliant color contrast of the glowing grasses at its base, this canvas invites a wave of warmth and playful optimism into your day. It encourages a spirit of bright curiosity, reminding you that even the humblest structure can command the spotlight with quiet power and vibrant color.

Behind the Craftsmanship

Every original painting is a labor of love, built from the ground up using only professional, museum-quality materials. All pieces are crafted to endure for generations in your home.

  • The Foundation & Palette: I paint on premium, archival wood panels or heavy-duty canvas, using highly pigmented Golden and Liquitex professional acrylics. These paints are chosen for their incredible lightfastness and rich, heavy-body textures, allowing the vibrant, unexpected colors and abstract images to pop off the surface.

  • The Preservation Layer: Once the painting is complete, I apply a crucial archival step: a Golden Isolation Coat. This permanent, glossy, transparent layer seals the acrylic paint permanently, acting as a physical shield that protects the actual brushwork from the environment.

  • The Final Touch: To finish each piece, I apply a premium Liquitex Satin Varnish. This provides a beautiful, soft sheen that enhances the depth of the colorful landscape without distracting glare. It also offers vital UV protection and allows the surface to be safely cleaned in the future if needed.

  • Provenance & Authentication: Each original piece is hand-signed on the back for official authentication as well as my painted signature on the front of the piece. Your painting will also arrive with a separate, official Certificate of Authenticity to accompany the piece for your records.

By investing in these specialized, multi-step preservation techniques, I ensure that the dreamlike energy, texture, and crisp brush strokes of your favorite painting remain as vivid and flawless decades from now as they were the day they left my mountain studio.

Meet The Artist *

Howdy! I’m Caley Van Cleave a Colorado-based artist, lifelong rambler, and a self-proclaimed color maximalist. Inspired by the vastness of the American West, I take sketches and memories from my outdoor adventures and dial up the intensity—bringing the hidden purples of a sunrise snowbank and the electric joy of the wild straight to the canvas.

From my home base at 9,000 feet in Silverthorne, CO, or out on the road in my Airstream, I paint to capture the emotional impact of rugged mountain sunshine and red clay canyons. If it’s bright, bold, and celebrates our stunning natural world, I’m enamored by it.

You won’t find any beige here. I bring the ridiculous, joyful color combinations of our wild spaces directly to the canvas so you can celebrate a world of beautiful, vibrant adventure right in your own space.
