'Sunset Nordic Ski' | Art Print | Chasing Winter Collection

from $58.00

A late evening Nordic ski inspired this abstract landscape painting. I’m an avid Nordic skier with a sweet spot for the early evening hours at my local Frisco Nordic center in our heavy winter months here in Colorado. With this piece, I give you the opportunity to embrace the awe of the final orange glow over the fluffy snow covered pine and fir trees. May you feel the joy of solitude that a stiff cold but colorful evening ski can bring. If you’re a fellow lover of snow time on cross country or skate skies, don’t miss out on the lovely trails along the peninsula on Dillon Reservoir at Frisco’s Nordic center. It’s a fine place to either get your winter cardio or simply enjoy a casual glide through the trees, mountains, and lake on a short winter’s day.

Chasing Winter Collection

This year, the snow didn’t show up, so I went into the studio and made my own. This collection is a heartfelt attempt to conjure the snow I couldn’t find on the peaks. From electric blues to neon whites, these pieces are how I filled the cup that the mountains left empty. It’s my way of finding the healing quiet of the powder even when the ground stayed bare. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it’s the only way I knew how to survive a winter that wasn’t. I hope you can feel the soul of the winter I so damn wished for in every stroke. All original paintings are final sale. If you have questions about the artwork, reach out to me.

How This Piece Will Feel in Your Space *

Imagine walking into your home on a quiet evening and feeling bathed in the warm, radiant glow of a winter twilight.

Sunset Nordic Ski brings a vibrant, soul-nourishing warmth directly onto your wall. The luminous golden-orange sky floods your space with rich, comforting light, while the bold indigo and magenta pine silhouettes anchor the room in serene depth. With soft pink and turquoise reflections dancing across the snowy trail, this original canvas feels like a cozy, permanent sunset—instantly transforming your living space into a serene, snow-dusted sanctuary.

Living with Sunset Nordic Ski taps into that rare, meditative peace of winter solitude.

Pausing in front of this canvas brings an immediate, quiet exhale—taking you straight to those magical last-light moments on the trail. You can almost hear the soft glide-glide-glide of your skis through fresh snow, feel the crisp, biting air on your cheeks, and see your breath catch the final golden rays of the sun. It serves as a gentle daily reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and hold space for those quiet, soul-restoring moments where the world goes still and it’s just you, the trees, and the beauty of the wild.

Howdy! I’m Caley Van Cleave a Colorado-based artist, lifelong rambler, and a self-proclaimed color maximalist. Inspired by the vastness of the American West, I take sketches and memories from my outdoor adventures and dial up the intensity—bringing the hidden purples of a sunrise snowbank and the electric joy of the wild straight to the canvas.

From my home base at 9,000 feet in Silverthorne, CO, or out on the road in my Airstream, I paint to capture the emotional impact of rugged mountain sunshine and red clay canyons. If it’s bright, bold, and celebrates our stunning natural world, I’m enamored by it.

You won’t find any beige here. I bring the ridiculous, joyful color combinations of our wild spaces directly to the canvas so you can celebrate a world of beautiful, vibrant adventure right in your own space.
